BRAHMARSHI PATRIJI
Brahmarshi Subhash Patriji was a new-age spiritual scientist who discovered the practice of Pyramid Meditation — combining the energetic properties of pyramids with the ancient breath-awareness technique of Anapanasati meditation.
In 1990, he founded the Pyramid Spiritual Societies Movement (PSSM), which has grown into a global movement with over 30,000 pyramid meditation centres — large and small — across the world.
He was honoured with the title Brahmarshi in Tirupati on September 12, 1997, and the title Pitamaha on September 30, 2018, in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to raising the collective consciousness of humanity. He was also an accomplished flautist, trained under Padma Bhushan awardee Dr. Sripada Pinakapani.

In 1990, he founded “Pyramid Spiritual Societies Movement”, which today is a worldwide movement having over 30,000 small and big pyramid ashrams across the globe.
He was given the title of Brahmarshi in Tirupati on September 12, 1997, and the title of Pitamaha on September 30, 2018, for his exemplary contribution towards the upliftment of the collective consciousness of humanity.
Patriji was also a trained flautist by the Padmabhushan Dr. Sripada Pinakapani.

Family, Education & Early Life
Patriji was born in 1947 in Shakkarnagar, Bodhan, in what is today Telangana. He grew up in a South Indian Brahmin family with four siblings, shaped by a compassionate mother, Savitri Devi, and an academically accomplished father, P.V. Ramana Rao. The household valued education deeply — his elder brother, Dr. Venu Vinod, completed a PhD from Manchester; his sister, Dr. Sudha, studied Chemistry and later earned an MBBS degree. Tragically, his younger brother Aarvind passed away at the age of fifteen.
Patriji completed his schooling in Shakkarnagar and Secunderabad, graduating with first-class honours in 1963. It was during this period that he also met his flute teacher, Master Chandrasekharan Garu.
He went on to complete a B.Sc. in 1966, briefly pursued an MA in English Literature, then moved to an Agriculture College, earning a B.Sc. (Agriculture) in 1969. He worked briefly as an Income Tax Inspector — for about ten months — before resigning to pursue an M.Sc. (Agriculture), while also preparing for national examinations and spending time reading at the libraries in Hyderabad.
In 1974, he married Swarnamala Siriguri. They have two daughters, Parinitha and Parimala. He then began his professional career with Coromandel Fertilizers Ltd. in Kurnool as an Assistant Sales Promotion Officer, earning several promotions over the years. During this period, he also trained in Carnatic music under Dr. Sripada Pinakapani, continuing until 1978.
Patriji & His Guru
Sadananda Yogi — also known as Kurnool Swamiji — was born in Arabia, spent years in the Himalayas, and travelled across India before finally settling in Kurnool in 1975 — the same year Patriji was posted there for work.
On January 1, 1981, Patriji visited Sadananda Yogiji for the first time, accompanied by two fellow seekers, Ramachenna Reddy and Venkataratnam. Over the next two years, Patriji's daily practice was simple: he would bring his Guru lunch, snacks, and tea, and sit with him, listening to stories from a long and remarkable life. Swamiji rarely left his modest lodge.
Sadananda Yogi consciously left his body on May 22, 1983, in the presence of Subhash Patriji and Dr. Sripada Pinakapani.
Enlightenment
Patriji's spiritual journey took a decisive turn in 1977, when his business colleague Ramachenna Reddy introduced him to meditation and shared his own inner experiences.
On December 30, 1979, Patriji read You Forever by Tuesday Lobsang Rampa. As he read, he sensed the hardships Rampa had endured to share these truths with the world — and felt, with certainty, that everything in the book was true.
Patriji's enlightenment is described as Jnanic enlightenment — a complete and perfect intellectual understanding of all that is. This is distinct from Yogic enlightenment, which was the path of teachers such as Paramahansa Yogananda, Ramana Maharshi, and the Buddha. According to Patriji, while Yogic enlightenment elevates those who attain it, Jnanic enlightenment has the potential to uplift the whole of humanity.
Pyramid Spiritual Societies Movement (PSSM)
In 1990, Patriji and a group of like-minded spiritual friends — among them B.V. Reddy, N.G. Showry, and Paul Vijay Kumar — established the Kurnool Spiritual Society in Kurnool. Its sole purpose was to create widespread awareness about the science of Anapanasati Meditation and its role in supporting physical, mental, and intellectual well-being.
In 1991, the Buddha Pyramid Meditation Centre was established with the support of B.V. Reddy Garu, a dedicated meditator and industrialist from Kurnool.
In 1992, Patriji resigned from his position at Coromandel Fertilizers Ltd. and committed himself entirely to the service of humanity. His tireless work since then has resulted in hundreds of Pyramid Spiritual Societies being established across India.
In 1996, a second pyramid was built in Uravakonda, Anantapur District, with the support of Shri Uravakonda Venkatesh Garu.
Patriji travelled ceaselessly across India — to cities, towns, and remote villages alike — offering meditation sessions to people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life.
Pyramid Valley International
Pyramid Valley International, set over 35 acres in Kebbedoddi village, Harohalli, Karnataka, is the international headquarters of PSSM. It is home to the world's first large-scale pyramid built specifically for meditation — the Maitreya Buddha Pyramid, a 160 ft × 160 ft structure inaugurated in 2003. Thousands of visitors are welcomed here every day, and free meals are offered to all through the Nitya Annadana Seva (daily food service).
Kailashpuri
Established in 2006, Kailasapuri is home to the world's largest meditation pyramid — the Maheshwara Maha Pyramid, measuring 180 ft × 180 ft and capable of accommodating over 7,000 meditators at one time. The ashram hosts the annual PSSM flagship event, Dhyana Mahachakram — an 11-day residential spiritual retreat attended by over a hundred thousand participants.
In 2022, following Patriji's passing, Patriji Shakti Sthal was established at Kailasapuri, where a simple Maha-Samadhi marks the place where his body was interred.
The Pyramid Meditation Channel (PMC), launched in 2017, is a new-age spiritual and lifestyle channel. It covers a wide range of subjects — the science of meditation, sacred geometry, crystals, ahimsa, plant-based living, astral travel, past-life regression, chakras, and wisdom from both Eastern and Western philosophical traditions.
The channel is available in over 15 languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Odia, Gujarati, Bengali, Marathi, Marwari, Assamese, Punjabi, Haryanvi, English, Spanish, and Deutsch. Today, it reaches more than 100 million people across the globe.
